Beta 2
August 30, 2008

This is the second beta release of SuperSpriteSurface 2.0; All features are complete, with the exception of the SuperSpriteSurface.PixelZoom functionality.

Further, the OpenGL plug-in has been updated to version 1.0.1, which will make SuperSpriteSurface compatible with the latest version of REALbasic.

The documentation is still incomplete for this beta release.

The SuperSpriteSurface text-engine is included with this version. Additionally, this version now includes the OS X utility, “Font Texture Map Maker.app”. This application will generate cross-platform font files for use with SuperSpriteSurface. Here’s a site for some free outline fonts.

This utility will soon be available as a separate download; it can be used for any OpenGL development that needs texture-map fonts! Of course, since these are bit-mapped fonts, there are no copyright issues, because bit-mapped fonts are exempt from copyright in the US.* Here’s another link. And here’s a simplified link.

Finally, SuperSpriteSurface 2.0 is now being released under a BSD-style license. The SuperSpriteSurface framework classes are not encrypted; you can use them in your projects, modify them, make improvements, etc.
